Game Design Document

For our document we had to create something slightly different as for my group we are creating an animated story book rather than a game. Titles needed to be slightly different.

After deciding on the tasks, the majority of it is going to be based around illustrations. Dividing the tasks amongst us we will tackle illustrations together, covering various things such as backgrounds, objects and characters. Because I have a graphic tablet I'll be digitalising illustrations that Marixa and Valerie create to be used in our animation.

  1. Hey Stephanie,
I really like that your group is doing an animated story book rather then a game it sounds really interesting and unique. Your game design document is really well done and informative. I love that your group is taking inspiration from stories such as the boy who cried wolf it was one of my favourites growing up. The art style your group is going for is really great it goes perfectly with your animated story book. Im wondering will there be the chance of an audio book with music and sound effects added in I think it would be great and give the story more dimension. I'm looking forward to seeing your storybook in a few weeks !!

  2. Hey Stephanie:) I love the idea of a story book instead of an actual game it's very different. I'm sure the illustrations will turn out great you're good at it! I think it'll look really cool with the rural environments you have listed like the woods, there's a lot of potential there. You've some really good inspirations too you could take something from each of them and create it into your own story book. I think the style and genre will definitely appeal to younger children especially if it's a similar animation to the one used in the boy who cried wolf. Overall I think your game design document was well put together and I look forward to seeing it developed into an animated story book. Best of luck!

  3. Hi Stephanie, Just watched your GDD and I think it's really cool that your group have chosen to do something different and go down the route of an animated story book. I like that you have picked a well known story to base the story book around because it means there is a structured storyline to go off of. I think you guys could make this look really cool, I like your idea of keeping the drawings detailed but this could be time consuming but would look incredible. There is a hidden underlying message in the story which I think is good for kids to learn about so I think you made the right choice in choosing to animate this story in particular. I wish you and your team the best with your game development and I can't wait to see it!
